Mysore Warriors took to the field on Thursday with a ‘known’ surname in the Maharaja Trophy match against Namma Sivamogga. He was none other than the legendary cricketer and former coach Rahul Dravid’s son namely Samit Dravid.
The day was special for the “Dravid Family” as it was the debut match for Samit, where fans eagerly wished to follow his father’s stature. There were exciting reactions on social media by fans who were very enthusiastic to welcome him to the cricketing arena
Shivammoga after winning the toss, decided to field first. Samit came to bat at number 4, from Mysore Warriors. Although he couldn’t perform well, contributing with just 7 runs on board, the kind fans cheered up right through his presence on the ground.
They are more excited to see the next generation Dravid who will surely give more reasons to reciprocate the gesture of the crowd with his exemplary innings, next time.
It is the first time that he is playing state’s T20 league and Mysore bought him for INR 50,000 in the auction. He is a budding middle-order batsman and a bowler who bowls medium pace. Considering he is just 18 years old, he has lots of intricacies to learn and finally play for the country.
Due to rains curtailing the match, the DLS method came into effect and Mysore emerged winners by 7 runs after putting on board 159 for 8 on board. Considering Shivamogga was 80 for 5 in 9 overs when rain interrupted the match
Samit has played for Karnataka under 19 side and he was also part of the winning team that has to its credit the Cooch Behar Trophy 2023-24
