Bangladesh has achieved a new milestone in its cricket history. India won the first Test against Pakistan by 10 wickets.
The win holds special significance for Bangladesh as they had earlier lost 12 and drawn one out of 14 Test matches with Pakistan.
It was a historic moment for Bangladesh. With this win against Pakistan, India and South Africa are now the only teams against whom Bangladesh have not won in Test cricket.
Although the start of the match was slow due to the wet outfield, it turned into a thriller on the fifth day. Only 41 overs of play was possible on the first day, but Bangladesh made a strong start by taking four important wickets.
On the second day, Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel played brilliant innings for Pakistan. Rizwan played an unbeaten knock of 171 runs as Pakistan declared their innings at 448/6. Shakeel also scored a century, which strengthened Pakistan.
For Bangladesh, Mushfiqur Rahim played a brilliant innings of 191, and Shadman Islam scored 93. On day five, Pakistan were bowled out for 146. Bangladesh’s spin duo of Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz took three wickets each.
Bangladesh needed just 30 runs for a historic win, which they completed in seven overs without losing any wicket.
Bangladesh have also received a significant boost in the ICC World Test Championship standings with this win, and they are now in sixth place, overtaking Pakistan and South Africa.
