India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir and batting star Virat Kohli were seen having a lighthearted conversation during a special interview that the BCCI is scheduled to release on 18 September.
Gambhir and Kohli have been known for their fierce quarrels on the cricket field including some confrontations during the Indian Premier League (IPL).
However since Gambhir became the coach of the Indian team both have decided to put aside their differences for the greater good of the team.
On Wednesday, the BCCI released a teaser of an interview featuring Gambhir and Kohli. Here’s how their conversation unfolded:
Virat Kohli: When you are batting and you have a bit of a chat with the opposition, did you ever feel like this might cause you to lose focus and potentially get out, or does it instead motivate you to perform even better?
Gautam Gambhir: You’ve had more altercations than I have (laughs). I think you can answer that question better than I can.
Virat Kohli: I’m just looking for someone who agrees with what I have to say. I’m not saying it’s wrong. At least someone should say yes, this is what happens.
Virat Kohli: So here we are. We’ve come a long way and putting an end to all the masala.
Gautam Gambhir: That’s a great way to start the conversation and all the spice.
Here’s the viral teaser of the interview:
Both Kohli and Gambhir were part of Team India’s ODI World Cup victory in 2011. They have played a lot of cricket with each other and sometimes had their differences. But the interview took place before the start of the Test series against Bangladesh seems to put an end to all the masala.
