WPL 2025 UPW vs DC After Match Statment
Chinelle Henry (Player of the Match): My role in the team is pretty clear. The players before me go out there and set up the innings. This is my second match in WPL. It’s about backing my skills and my team trusts me, it’s about going out there and executing. When I went out to bat, the ball was doing a bit much.
It was just about backing my strengths. The bowlers were bowling to my strength. Back in December was a good series, I missed a couple of matches due to injury. To pick up where I left off was nice and I am happy my contribution helped my team win. It happens (dropped catches). It’s about going back and train. The next game we play is against RCB and we need to take on chances. It was loud today and imagine what it’ll be then. It’s about backing each other and do well as a team.
Deepti Sharma (UP Warriorz captain):
We needed this win, it was very important. It feels very good to win, the mindset is very positive. The mindset was pretty similar, we were focusing on partnerships. Henry was unbelievable. We need to improve on fielding. We are believing that our team can keep winning.
Grace Harris, the lady with the hat-trick is here for a chat! Here is her take:
That was not great bowling from me! But, I’ve got the wickets! I was joking in the bowlers’ meeting today that I’m going to take a hat-trick, and the girls took it a bit casually! Now, I’ll try to do something similar with the batting too you know! I’ve batted once with Chinelle Henry at the nets and she is a powerful athlete! She can strike it clean alright! Also, she is a nice, bubbly person.
She adds up a lot to our batting unit and I’ve plans of batting with her a lot as the tournament goes along! A lot of the trend at the moment is that you win the toss and win the match. But it’s about executing our plans. Hopefully, Chinelle’s innings tonight and kickstarted something special! RCB here is a tough proposition, but we want to knock them over first and do the same to the Mumbai Indians!
