AB de Villiers fiercely defends Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, slamming critics for targeting the cricket legends in their later careers
Former South African cricketer AB de Villiers has strongly defended Indian cricket stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
He lashed out at critics on his YouTube channel, comparing them to “cockroaches.”

De Villiers’ anger erupted when some people were making negative comments about Rohit and Kohli’s age and form.
De Villiers lashed out at critics?
AB de Villiers said on his YouTube channel, “I don’t know what it is about people. I don’t know if I can call them people. Cockroaches climbing out of their holes as soon as players get towards the backend of their careers.
Why? Why do you want to pour negative energy into players who have given their lives for their country and this beautiful game of cricket? This is the perfect time to celebrate them.”
He said that Rohit and Kohli have dedicated their lives to Indian cricket. Yet, some people still speak negatively about them in the latter stages of their careers.
De Villiers also said that most people respect both players and celebrate their illustrious careers.
Rohit-Kohli respond to critics
In the recent ODI series against Australia, Rohit and Kohli responded to their critics with their batting. After initial setbacks, both teams performed brilliantly in the match played in Sydney. Rohit scored an unbeaten 121, while Kohli played an unbeaten inning of 74.
This brilliant performance helped India win by nine wickets and avoid a series whitewash.
De Villiers said in his statement, “They have received a lot of criticism in the last few months. Everyone is just trying to push them down, for what reason? I have no idea.
Obviously, I am referring to the minority because I think the majority of people celebrate Rohit and Virat and their incredible careers. And it is a fantastic time to celebrate them once again.”
He also added that both players now need support and praise, not criticism.
Rohit and Kohli proved with their performances that they are still big match-winners for India. Their innings in Sydney not only led the team to victory but also silenced the critics.
De Villiers believes that these two legends should be respected because they have taken Indian cricket to new heights.
