AB de Villiers wants India to handle Jasprit Bumrah very carefully. The South African star thinks India should copy how they managed Dale Steyn. Bumrah gets hurt easily, so India must protect their best bowler.

Why Bumrah Needs Special Care
Jasprit Bumrah bowls faster than most cricketers in the world today. However, his body breaks down often during long cricket seasons. Doctors have treated Bumrah for back problems many times before.
India picked Bumrah for only three matches against England recently. They rested him for two Tests to keep him fresh. Many cricket fans questioned this decision by team management officials.
De Villiers remembers how South Africa looked after Dale Steyn properly. They skipped Steyn from easier matches to save his energy. This plan helped Steyn bowl well in an important series later.
“He is probably the top bowler in the world in all formats right now. So, it’s very difficult to decide a way to rest him, but in my opinion, Test cricket is the ultimate form of the game. And this Test series probably would’ve been the one, in my opinion, to get him ready for all five Test matches. That’s what we used to do with Dale (Steyn). Rest him in lesser important T20 and ODI series and get him ready for the big Test series against Australia, England, and India away from home… New Zealand to a certain extent, depending on the rankings at that time,” De Villiers said.
Learning from South Africa’s Success
South Africa never played Dale Steyn in every single match. Team doctors checked his fitness levels before each cricket series. They wanted Steyn healthy for matches against strong batting teams.
De Villiers thinks India should follow this same smart approach. He believes Test cricket demands the very best from players. Bumrah must stay fit for matches that really matter most.

The former captain worries about India’s planning for their star bowler. He thinks team officials might lack confidence in Bumrah’s body. Poor planning could waste Bumrah’s best bowling years completely.
The Right Way Forward
Bumrah wins matches for India with his deadly bowling skills. His unusual action troubles even the world’s best batsmen regularly. India cannot afford to lose him for long periods.
Team management should rest Bumrah against weaker cricket teams sometimes. They must save his energy for the series against Australia and England. Smart planning will extend his career by several more years.

De Villiers wants India to think about long-term success plans. He suggests using Bumrah only when India really needs him. This approach worked perfectly for South Africa with Dale Steyn.
Cricket experts must help India make better decisions about Bumrah. They should study how other countries manage their fast bowlers. Good planning today will help India win more matches tomorrow.
