The Super 4 match of the Asia Cup 2025 between India and Pakistan in Dubai wasn’t just a typical cricket game; it was a full-blown drama.
Played on Sunday, September 21st, the match was filled with skill, anger, and intense on-field clashes.

What’s Whole Matter?
Abhishek Sharma not only stunned everyone with his explosive batting, but his heated exchanges with Pakistani bowlers Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi also made headlines.
Abhishek and his partner Shubman Gill were targeted by the Pakistani fast bowlers with every ball. The match began with a commotion when Abhishek hit Shaheen’s very first ball for a six.
A heated exchange then ensued between the two. Cameras captured Shaheen muttering something, but it was not clearly audible.
Then, in the third over, Shubman hit fours off two consecutive balls from Shaheen, prompting Gill to shout, “Jaa, ball lekar aa!” This caused an uproar in the stadium.
On-field altercation erupts, Pakistani bowlers launch personal attacks
Tensions escalated when Shubman hit a boundary off Haris Rauf. A heated argument broke out between Abhishek and Haris.
Abhishek hit another boundary in the final over of the powerplay, leading to Haris’s outburst.
The two exchanged heated glances, and the umpire had to intervene to calm things down. The Pakistani bowlers hurled abuse in Punjabi, which Abhishek and Gill didn’t like at all.
This was all for no reason, just to provoke the Indian openers.
Abhishek Sharma Reveals Rauf & Afridi’s Taunts
After the match, Abhishek spoke openly on Sony Sports Network. He explained that Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi were making personal attacks on every ball.
Abhishek said, “Today, I had to play this way because of the way they were making personal attacks without any reason.
I didn’t like it at all. They were targeting us on every ball, so it was important to respond that way.
And I felt that this is the only answer I could give with my bat. I think this is not the way to play cricket. Shubman and I were on the same page, and we decided to answer them by winning the match.”
Abhishek also clarified that the Pakistani bowlers were being unnecessarily aggressive, to which he and Gill responded with the bat.
His explosive innings of 74 runs helped India chase down the target of 172 runs, and the team won by 6 wickets.
Abhishek’s aggressive style will continue
Talking about his style, Abhishek said, “I want to play like this because I’m practicing really hard for it. If it’s my day, I’ll make sure we win the match.”
They want to play like this because they’ve been working hard for it.
India’s next match is against Bangladesh in the Super 4s on September 24th. After that, they play their final league match against Sri Lanka in Dubai on September 26th.
The final of the Asia Cup 2025 will be played on September 28th.
