Ahead of the Super Four match of the Asia Cup 2025, Bangladesh coach Phil Simmons has issued a stern warning to Indian coach Gautam Gambhir.
He clearly stated that India is not an impossible team to defeat. Simmons believes his team can exploit India’s weaknesses and cause a major upset at the Dubai International Stadium.

“Every team can beat India,” Bangladesh coach Phil Simmons boldly claims
Simmons fearlessly said, “Every team can beat India. There’s always hype around matches involving India because they are the number one T20 team in the world. Hype does build. We’ll just use that hype to our advantage.”
He says that what India does first doesn’t matter. The real game will be on the field that day.
Simmons stressed, “The game is played that day. It’s not like what India has done before. It happens on Wednesday. It happens during that three-and-a-half-hour period. We’ll try to do our best and hopefully find chinks in India’s armor. That’s how we win games.”
Simmons’ statement on the toss and pitch
Simmons described the Dubai pitch as excellent for batting and said not to give much importance to the toss.
He said, “I haven’t seen much difference in the wicket in 40 overs. I think it’s one of the best wickets we’ve seen here for a while. I don’t think the toss will have that much of an effect.”
Simmons believes that the bowlers will have to bowl with the right strategy, as the pitch is helpful for the batsmen.
Furthermore, Simmons expressed confidence in his team’s fitness, especially praising experienced bowler Mustafizur Rahman.
He said, “I think the guys are fit enough to play two games back-to-back. But playing two T20s in a row isn’t ideal for any team. It’s a lot harder than people think.”
Simmons also praised Mustafizur’s leadership, who guides the juniors in team meetings and is performing brilliantly on the field.
The Bangladesh team is fully prepared for this match, and Simmons is confident that their strategy can put India in trouble.
