But then things got weird at the trophy ceremony after India’s win. Suryakumar Yadav and the boys refused to take the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi. Naqvi runs Pakistan’s Interior Ministry and controls both PCB and ACC right now. The whole thing looked uncomfortable because of the ongoing political problems between the countries.

Kapil Dev’s Message About Cricket and Politics

Kapil Dev breaks silence on India-Pakistan controversy with a strong message for everyone. He wants players and media folks to keep politics away from cricket. The 1983 World Cup hero believes cricket should stay pure and simple always.

“I just want to say—your responsibility, and responsibility for the entire media also, is that we should look into the sports side rather than looking into the politics side. Yes, media has the responsibility to bring everything to the table, but as a sportsman, I would like to see that we should stick to sports. It will be much better,” Kapil said.

Dev thinks the sport suffers when political issues enter the field unnecessarily. He urged everyone to remember why cricket matters so much to fans. The game brings joy to millions and shouldn’t become a political battleground ever.

Tensions During Asia Cup 2025 Matches

The Asia Cup 2025 saw several heated moments between the rival teams. Indian players refused to shake hands with their opponents in earlier matches. Pakistani players responded with provocative gestures during some tense games as well.

These incidents made headlines throughout the Asia Cup 2025 tournament in recent weeks. Fans from both countries argued about these moments on social media platforms. The final match in Dubai carried all this baggage into the biggest stage.

Kapil Dev’s Reality Check to Pakistan Cricket

Kapil Dev breaks silence on India-Pakistan controversy and didn’t spare Pakistan’s team either. He pointed out how they’re missing that special talent from the old days. Remember legends like Wasim Akram and Javed Miandad who terrorised bowling attacks back then?

“You can talk about Imran Khan, you can talk about Javed Miandad, Zaheer Abbas, Wasim Akram, and’90s, Waqar Younis. They have given us that talent. But unfortunately, we can’t see similar talent today—not even one percent of what they used to have,” he added.

Pakistan’s batting fell apart badly as they managed only 146 runs total. India had some early trouble, but still chased it down without much drama. The Asia Cup 2025 trophy remained with Team India after they dominated the final.
