A fierce clash took place tonight at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi in Group B of the Asia Cup 2025. The match between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka was so close to the last ball that it was breathtaking.

Afghanistan batted first and scored 169/8 in 20 overs, but Sri Lanka won by 6 wickets, reaching 171/4 in 18.4 overs.
Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat, but Sri Lanka made a superb chase.

Afghanistan got off to a good start. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 14 runs in 8 balls, including two fours, before being caught by Newwan Thushara off Perera.
Sediqullah Atal scored 18 runs in 14 balls, including a six, but was bowled by Thushara. Karim Janat was caught by Thushara for just 1 run.
Ibrahim Zadran scored 24 runs off 27 balls but was dismissed by Chameera off Dunith Wellalage.
Mohammed Nabi also played a blistering innings of 60 runs off 22 balls, including 3 fours and 6 sixes. However, he was run out by the Mendis-Perera duo in the last over.
Rashid Khan scored 24 runs off 23 balls but was also bowled by Thushara. Noor Ahmed remained not out on 6 runs.

Thushara was the hero for Sri Lanka, taking 4 wickets for 18 runs in 4 overs. Chameera conceded 50 runs but took one wicket.
Kusal Mendis was the star of Sri Lanka’s batting. 74 runs off 52 balls, 10 fours, and 10 not out! Strike rate 142.31. Pathum Nissanka scored 6 runs off 5 balls but was dismissed by Omarzai.
Kamil Mishara scored 4 runs off 10 balls before being caught by Zadran off Nabi. Kusal Perara scored 28 runs off 20 balls (3 fours) but was caught by Gurbaz off Mujeeb-ur-Rahman.
Charith Asalanka scored 17 runs off 12 balls (2 fours) but was dismissed by Khan off Noor Ahmed. Kamindu Mendis remained not out after scoring 26 runs off 13 balls (2 sixes).
