A major controversy has erupted over Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi during the Asia Cup 2025.

Former cricketer Atiq-uz-Zaman has leveled serious allegations of corruption against him for providing substandard kits to players.
Pakistan defeated the UAE in the ongoing tournament, securing a spot in the Super Four, but the off-field drama continues unabated.
Experts say this isn’t just a kit issue, but rather a deeper flaw within the PCB.
Atiq-uz-Zaman launched a scathing attack on X.
He wrote: “Pakistan players sweating through low-quality kits while others wear proper dry-fits. This is what happens when tenders go to friends, not professionals. Corruption dripping more than the sweat.”
He claims that Pakistani players are playing in sweat-soaked, substandard jerseys, while other teams are comfortably wearing dry-fit kits.
Zaman accused the PCB of awarding tenders to friends, leading to a multi-crore scam. The PCB doesn’t even have a kit sponsor, despite having other sponsors like Pepsi.
This controversy erupted when the Asia Cup was already embroiled in controversy. Before the Pakistan-UAE match, the PCB demanded the removal of referee Andy Pycroft, delaying the start of the game by an hour.
The ICC rejected their demand. Nevertheless, thanks to a stellar performance from Shaheen Afridi, Pakistan scored 146/9 and bowled out the UAE for 105.
But the kit issue is now shaking Naqvi’s position. People are saying that it’s not just the kits, but major financial scams within the PCB, such as the embezzlement of funds in the name of maintenance of the Rawalpindi Stadium.
