India’s cricket team faces big decisions about Sanju Samson’s batting position in the Asia Cup 2025. Shubman Gill has returned to the team as an opener. This change affects where Samson will bat in upcoming matches.

Samson Gets New Role in Team
Sitanshu Kotak is India’s batting helper and coach. He told Samson about his new batting spot in the team. The coaches want Samson to bat at the number 3 position now. This is different from his usual opening position before.
Samson opened the batting before Gill came back to the team. He played very well as an opener in recent matches. But the team needs him to play at a different spot. Kotak made sure Samson knew about this important change clearly.
“Sanju Samson hasn’t batted a lot at No. 5 or 6, but that doesn’t mean he can’t bat at that position. Everyone knows their roles. Last match he didn’t bat at No. 3, but that doesn’t mean the same thing will happen in the next game,” Kotak said.
The coach believes every player should know their role properly. This helps the team play better together during big matches.
Focus on Cricket Over Politics
Some people ask questions about India playing against Pakistan. The team wants to focus only on cricket matches. They follow their government’s rules and play the sport properly.
“Once the BCCI said they are aligned with the government’s decision, our focus has been on the match,” India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak said.
Sanju Samson’s batting position remains the main team decision for Asia Cup 2025 success.
Team Changes for Big Matches
India played against the UAE on September 10 in their first match. Jasprit Bumrah was the main fast bowler in that game. Arshdeep Singh did not play in the starting team then.
Arshdeep Singh has taken 99 wickets in T20 cricket for India. He wants to get his 100th wicket very soon. But the coaches chose other bowlers for the UAE match instead.
The Indian bowlers played really well in their last game. This makes it hard for Arshdeep to get back quickly. The team wants more batsmen against stronger teams like Pakistan.
