The 2025 Asia Cup trophy controversy once again came into the spotlight during the ICC Board meeting in Dubai. India won the tournament, but they still haven’t received the trophy.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia was expected to raise the issue, but it didn’t appear on the official agenda.
Neither at the Chief Executives Committee meeting nor at the Board meeting.
All eyes were on Saikia, but the discussion remained on the sidelines.
Informal Discussions Were Held, But Resolutions Elapsed
Some informal discussions did take place on the sidelines during the meeting. Saikia stated that India, the winners of the 2025 Asia Cup, are still awaiting the trophy.
Mohsin Naqvi, representing the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), participated. Naqvi’s presence was also doubtful, but he arrived in Dubai just an hour before the meeting began.
Before the meeting, the board members had a lengthy informal discussion, but Naqvi did not attend as he had only arrived on Friday morning.
According to sources, Naqvi was staying overnight in Dubai and it seemed the trophy issue could be resolved soon.
An administrator who attended the meeting said, “There were no heated arguments or anything. The matter was brought up during an informal discussion and both the PCB and BCCI would work towards resolving it at the earliest.
Whether it needs intervention from the ICC – by forming a committee or something else – is not decided at this stage, but it was all very healthy and cordial.”
He further said, “Yes, there were serious doubts whether Mr. Mohsin Naqvi would come for the board meeting, but once he arrived, routine followed, and the trophy matter was only discussed on the sidelines.”
The BCCI sought comment from Saikia, but has not yet received a response. This story will be updated. PCB Chief Naqvi did not provide any clarification regarding the trophy.
There were earlier reports that Naqvi had fled with the trophy, but now it is clear that efforts are underway to resolve the matter.
The ICC is yet to decide whether to form a committee or intervene.
