The BCCI has finally broken its silence on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s ODI careers.
Amid speculations about the 2027 ODI World Cup, the BCCI has made it clear that it is not going to take any hasty decision on the future of these two legends.

Will the two Legend’s continue to rock the field till 2027?
Rohit and Kohli, who together have scored 83 ODI centuries and over 25,000 runs, are two of the biggest pillars of Indian cricket.
But now the question is, will the two be able to play till the 2027 World Cup, when Kohli will be 39 and Rohit 40?
A BCCI source told PTI
“Obviously, if they (Rohit and Kohli) have something in mind, they will tell the BCCI officials, as they did before the England Test tour.” So, the ball is in their court now!
The ODI series against Australia in October is India’s next big challenge.
With the series against Bangladesh in August cancelled, fans are now eyeing the October 19-25 series.
But the BCCI is currently focused on the T20 Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup in February 2026.
The source said, “For now, the focus will be on sending the best team for the Asia Cup T20 tournament, hopefully all the players will be fit and available.”
Kohli and Rohit last played together in the Champions Trophy in Dubai. Kohli scored a century against Pakistan, while Rohit hit a brilliant half-century in the final. But since the IPL, both have not played any competitive cricket.
Kohli, who is now in London, shared a story of indoor net practice on Instagram, while Rohit has returned to Mumbai and will start training soon.
Some reports said that the BCCI could give both of them a farewell match in Sydney on October 25, but the source completely rejected it.
“Even if they play Vijay Hazare, before that there would already be six ODIs that will be played,”
So, will Rohit and Kohli rock the ODI scene by 2027? Fans are excited, but BCCI is clear – no rush right now.
