Tensions between India and Pakistan have once again reached a peak over the 2025 Asia Cup trophy.
The BCCI has clearly stated that if the trophy is not handed over to India within the next 48 hours, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi could face strict action from the ICC.
All this is happening a month after the Asia Cup final, where India defeated Pakistan resoundingly.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia stated that he is a little unhappy about the trophy.

In an interview with PTI Video, he said, “Yes, we are a little unhappy with the way the trophy has not been given to us even after a month.”
Saikia also said that a letter was written to the ACC Chairman 10 days ago, but it made no difference.
“They are still keeping the trophy in their custody, but we hope it will reach the BCCI office in Mumbai within a day or two.”

After the final match, Mohsin Naqvi was booed by the spectators in the stadium. He is the ACC President, but India flatly refused to accept the trophy from him.
The reason is some objectionable statements Naqvi made against India. Even after winning the final, the trophy remained with Pakistan, as Naqvi said that an Indian player would have to personally receive it at the ceremony.
But the BCCI rejected this proposal. Team India, captained by Suryakumar Yadav, defeated Pakistan in three matches, especially in the final. Yet, the trophy was not returned!
Saikia further said, “On behalf of the BCCI, we are fully prepared to deal with the matter, and I can assure the people of India that the trophy will come back to India – only the timeline is not fixed. One day, it will come.”

He also added, “We have won all matches against Pakistan and won the trophy. We are the champions. Everything is on record – only the trophy is missing. I hope good sense will prevail.”
Now, if the trophy doesn’t arrive, this issue will be raised at the ICC meeting in Dubai starting November 4th. Action could be taken against Naqvi, such as removal from the ACC or a fine.

The BCCI is fully prepared. Saikia said that he assures the public that the trophy will definitely return to India.
India’s dominance was clearly visible in the Asia Cup, and Pakistan was taught a lesson. But this trophy controversy is bringing a new twist to the cricket world. The BCCI’s stand will remain strong at the ICC meeting.
