Massive changes are coming to Pakistan cricket! PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi plans to shake up the entire T20 team. Some big names might never wear the green jersey again.

Salman Ali Agha will definitely lose his captaincy soon. This decision comes regardless of Pakistan’s World Cup results. The writing is on the wall for him already.
Mohsin Naqvi’s Frustration with Team Performance
Naqvi feels extremely disappointed with Pakistan’s World Cup 2026 campaign. The PCB Chairman received strong assurances before the tournament started. Selectors and management promised him excellent performances throughout.
Those promises fell flat when matches actually began. Pakistan struggled badly in the tournament stages. The team couldn’t deliver what everyone expected from them.
A PCB source revealed Naqvi’s plans for drastic changes. He wants to discuss player futures with head coach Mike Hesson. The selectors will also join these important discussions soon.
“Naqvi is not happy at all because this time he was assured by the selectors, team management and his close aides in the board that the team was set to do well in the World Cup,” the source said.
Which Players Face the Axe?
Salman Ali Agha’s captaincy ends after the World Cup definitely. But his T20 international career might end too. Several other senior players face similar uncertain futures.
Babar Azam tops the list of players at risk. He has played 145 T20 internationals for Pakistan already. His T20 career could end unless he performs brilliantly.
Usman Khan also faces potential removal from T20 cricket. A few other senior players are under the scanner. The exact names remain unclear right now though.
“Salman, Babar Azam, Usman Khan and a few others will probably see curtains on their T20 international career the World Cup,” the source said.
Only exceptional performances against Sri Lanka might save them. Knockout stage heroics could extend their careers slightly. But Naqvi seems determined to make changes regardless.
Who Could Become the New Captain?
Two names emerge as potential replacements for Salman Agha. Shadab Khan represents one strong option for leadership. Shaheen Shah Afridi stands as another serious candidate.
Head coach Mike Hesson actually warned about this situation earlier. He advised Naqvi to bring younger players into the team structure. Modern T20 cricket demands fresh energy and new approaches constantly.
The PCB ignored Hesson’s valuable advice before the World Cup. Now they’re paying the heavy price for that mistake. Major changes will definitely happen after the tournament ends completely.
Pakistan cricket will soon enter a completely new era. The old guard makes way for youth finally!
