Chinnaswamy Stadium finally gets approval after months of uncertainty. The Karnataka State Government cleared RCB’s home ground for hosting matches. Last year’s deadly stampede created serious doubts about venue safety.

The Expert Committee reviewed everything thoroughly before making recommendations. Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwar chaired the committee personally. RCB, DNA Event Management, and KSCA all participated in evaluations.
The Tragic Stampede That Changed Everything
Eleven people died during RCB’s title victory celebrations last year. That stampede happened right at Chinnaswamy Stadium during festivities. The Karnataka State Government immediately ordered a complete safety review afterward.
Months of uncertainty followed for RCB and their fans. Would Chinnaswamy host IPL 2026 matches at all? RCB requested clearance for five of seven home games there.
The remaining two home matches go to Raipur’s stadium. The Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium hosts those games. RCB needed backup plans while desperately awaiting approval.
Expert Committee’s Safety Evaluation Process
The committee presented detailed reports on stadium readiness in its entirety. Compliance with safety standards was verified thoroughly everywhere. Preparedness measures impressed the Home Minister during review meetings.
KSCA spokesperson Vinay Mruthyunjaya confirmed the positive outcome officially. That approval came based on committee recommendations directly.
“Based on the recommendations of the Expert Committee and after reviewing the arrangements in detail, the Hon’ble Home Minister has formally accorded approval for the conduct of the upcoming IPL matches at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru,” he said.
Shri Sreemant Kumar Singh coordinated safety and security evaluations. The Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru, served as Member Secretary. His coordination proved crucial in getting Chinnaswamy Stadium approval successfully.
KSCA thanked all Expert Committee members and sub-committees. Their assessments and recommendations enabled this approval to happen. Officials worked tirelessly to ensure safety standards were met everywhere.
IPL 2026 Opening at Chinnaswamy Confirmed
March 28 brings the 19th IPL season opener to Chinnaswamy. RCB faces Sunrisers Hyderabad in that opening match. Karnataka State Government approval makes this tournament start possible.
A special RCB unboxing event accompanies the opener excitingly. The IPL opening ceremony also happens at Chinnaswamy Stadium. Defending champions deserve to host the season opener properly.
RCB fans can finally celebrate knowing their home venue is ready. Five home matches at Chinnaswamy give fans incredible experiences. The venue capacity and atmosphere remain unmatched in IPL 2026.
Safety measures implemented after last year’s tragedy ensure better security. The Karnataka State Government wouldn’t approve without proper safeguards everywhere. The tragic stampede won’t be repeated under any circumstances.
Can RCB defend their title successfully with Chinnaswamy hosting them again?
