A big shake-up in the ICC ODI rankings just happened. Daryl Mitchell climbed all the way to the top this week. Virat Kohli’s reign as number one ended after Mitchell’s crazy performances against India.

The New Zealand batter sits at 845 rating points now. Virat Kohli moved down to second with 795 points beside his name. That’s a pretty big 50-point difference between them actually.
New Zealand did something nobody expected it to do recently. Their first ODI series win in India ever. Daryl Mitchell basically carried the team on his shoulders throughout. Every time he walked out to bat, runs just flowed.
Record-Breaking Series Performance
Mitchell smashed 352 runs across 3 innings during that series. One fifty and two centuries showed his complete dominance over Indian bowlers. His average of 176.00 sounds almost unreal.
This run tally became the highest by any New Zealander in a three-match series. Only two players ever scored more in 3 ODI games. Babar Azam got 360 against West Indies back in 2016. Shubman Gill also reached 360 against New Zealand in 2023.
Daryl Mitchell absolutely loves batting in India it seems. He now has four ODI hundreds scored on Indian pitches. Only AB de Villiers sits ahead with five centuries in India.
Latest ICC Rankings Shake-up
