Virat Kohli’s retirement from Test cricket is still in the headlines, and now former Australia captain Mark Taylor has added a new spice to this story.
Taylor says that he saw a completely different, angry side of Kohli in Australia, which may have become the reason for his retirement.
What happened that a calm and passionate player like Kohli got so angry? Let’s know the reason behind this..

Actually, Kohli’s bat did not do well in Australia last year. He scored only 191 runs in 9 innings, which was disappointing for a legend like him.
It went too far in the Sydney Test, when after getting out for the eighth time, Kohli angrily hit his bat on the pad and shouted, “I’m done!” His teammates thought it was a joke, but now it seems that it came from the heart.
Taylor said in the ListNR Sport podcast.
“This was the first time I saw Kohli so angry. He has always been competitive, but angry? This was new. When a player starts getting like this, then understand that his time is over,”
Angry, this is the secret of retirement?
Kohli’s love for Test cricket is well known. He considers it “five levels above” the IPL. Still, the poor performance in Australia and repeatedly making mistakes outside the off stump must have bothered him.
Taylor also recalled an old meeting, when Kohli spoke of his passion for Test cricket in Adelaide in 2014. During an interview, when interrupted due to noise,
Kohli said, “Mark, we will finish this interview!” Such was his passion for Tests.
But now? Kohli surprised everyone by posting his retirement on Instagram on May 12. He has been silent since then, and questions remain in the minds of fans.
Was it anger, frustration, or something else that forced him to take this step? Taylor believes Kohli did not want people to think of him as a pale shadow of his former self.
Right now, Kohli is playing for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy, and has also made a splash in the IPL. But his absence from Test cricket broke everyone’s hearts.
