Something happened on Tuesday evening at Arthunkal Beach in Kerala that left everyone stunned. South African cricket legend Jonty Rhodes was vacationing with his family.
Some local youths were playing cricket outside the hotel. Jonty saw them, stopped, and spoke to the boys.
He said, “I’ll come back tomorrow morning to play with you guys!”

Who is Jonty Rhodes, the King of Fielding?
Who doesn’t know Jonty Rhodes? His fielding shook the cricket world in the 90s. Every cricket fan remembers his run-out of Inzamam-ul-Haq in the 1992 World Cup.
Jonty’s diving and speed earned him the nickname “Flying Jonty.”
The newspaper wrote, “Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s Jonty!” He would jump around the field like a superhero.
Because of his fielding, South Africa saved 30-35 runs in every match. Batsmen were afraid to hit the ball towards him.
Jonty’s charisma on the Kerala beach
On Thursday morning, Jonty returned to Artunkal Beach on his bicycle and started playing cricket with the boys of the Artunkal Cricket Club.
In the video, Jonty displays his same energy. A child said that Jonty said,
“Come on, let’s have some fun!”
Then he took his bat and hit shots on the sand.
A local coach said that Jonty taught the children to never give up when fielding. Playing on sand is difficult, but Jonty showed them how to maintain balance.
This video spread like wildfire on social media, revitalizing the cricket scene in Kerala. The Artunkal Cricket Club is now working harder.
Jonty inspired the children that anything is possible with hard work and passion. This fun-filled meeting of theirs will inspire the youth of Kerala for a long time.
