Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has now entered the race for big posts in BCCI. Punjab Cricket Association has chosen him as its representative for the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 28.

In this meeting, elections will be held for five main posts of BCCI like Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Joint Secretary and Treasurer.
Bhajji’s masterstroke
This move of Bhajji has become a topic of discussion in the cricket world.
He has previously been the Chief Cricketing Advisor of PCA, and now he will participate in the BCCI meeting for the first time. Harbhajan played 103 Test matches for India, where he took 417 wickets.
He took 269 wickets in 236 ODI matches, and was part of the 2011 World Cup winning team. Despite being associated with AAP and a Rajya Sabha member, he seems interested in cricket administration.
BCCI’s new turn: Entry of ex-players
The AGM will also see voting for two spots for the IPL Governing Council and one spot for the top council. Harbhajan is not the only big name. The Bengal Cricket Association has chosen former captain Sourav Ganguly, who was the BCCI chairman in 2019.
Roger Binny is currently the chairman, who was elected unopposed in 2022. The BCCI spoke to many retired players, but only Harbhajan and Ganguly said yes.
The last date for nominations is today – September 12. The date for filing nominations is September 20-21, withdrawal till 23, and voting on 28.
There have been very few real elections in BCCI in the last 10 years, most decisions are taken through discussions.
Nominees from other states: Raghuram Bhatt from Karnataka, Sanjay Naik from Mumbai, Arun Dhumal from Himachal, Rajiv Shukla from UP, Jaydev Shah from Saurashtra, Pranav Amin from Baroda, and RI Palani from Tamil Nadu.
