The IPL vs PSL debate just got heated between India and Pakistan. PCB wants to run their PSL tournament during April and May 2026. BCCI won’t be happy about this scheduling decision at all. Both leagues will now fight for viewership during the same months. Cricket fans might have to choose between watching IPL and PSL games.

Why PCB Changed Their PSL Dates
The ICC World T20 Cup happens in February and March next year. This forced PCB to shift their PSL dates to later months. They had no other choice but to move things around.
A PSL official said this overlap happened before because of ICC tournaments. BCCI and PCB head-on clashes aren’t new in cricket politics. The two boards rarely agree on anything these days.
PCB is also thinking about adding two fresh teams to the PSL. They want a bigger and better tournament for cricket fans. However, organising more teams brings its own set of problems.
Franchise owners are sitting down with PCB officials right now. They need to sort out several pending issues before the next season.

The Schedule Clash Nobody Wanted
IPL 2026 will run from March 15 until May 31. That’s more than two months of non-stop cricket action. The IPL vs PSL timing creates a massive problem for both leagues.
“There is a window available to the Pakistan board in December and the first half of January, but it has already given NOCs to Pakistani players to play in the Big Bash in Australia in this period and has also planned some domestic activities,” said PCB sources.
BCCI and PCB head-on confrontations usually end with no clear winner. Both cricket boards want their leagues to succeed big time. But running them together could hurt viewership numbers for both. Sponsors and advertisers will also need to split their budgets now.
“So the discussion now with the franchise owners is to prepare for the PSL to be held in April-May, just like this year,” he added.

The IPL vs PSL situation remains unclear for now, though. BCCI and PCB head-on discussions might happen behind closed doors soon.
