Before the start of IPL 2025, a Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) official has recently made a big disclosure that Shardul Thakur can be included in the team for IPL 2025.

Shardul Thakur has been seen in the camp of Lucknow Super Giants since last week. He is training with the team and is working hard, which has fueled speculation whether he will play for LSG this season.
Interesting twist: Shardul, who was not sold in the auction, can now become the hero of LSG!
Shardul Thakur was one of the players whom no team could buy in the IPL 2025 auction. Everyone was expecting this fast bowler, who played for Chennai Super Kings last season, to be bid on this year as well, but it did not happen.
But now due to the injury of some players of the Lucknow team, Shardul has a chance to play in IPL 2025. A franchise official has clearly said that this time the team will not repeat the mistakes of last season.
The franchise official said, “In the last three seasons, we had asked for replacements for the injured players later, but this time we will not make that mistake. We want to make sure that if a player is unable to play the entire season, his replacement should be ready in advance.”
He further said, “We are currently in touch with some Indian fast bowlers who were not sold in the mega auction. They are also participating in our practice sessions. We can make an official announcement soon after getting information about the injured players.”
When asked about Shardul Thakur, the official said,
“Shardul Thakur has been part of our camp for the last one week. If a fast bowler gets injured, we will include him in the team as per the rules of IPL.”
LSG’s three main fast bowlers – Mayank Yadav, Avesh Khan and Mohsin Khan – are still awaiting clearance from the NCA. All three have not yet joined the team and it is likely that one of them may be out.
However, if Shardul gets a chance, he can strengthen the team not only with bowling but also with batting. He has taken 94 wickets in the IPL at an average of 30.52 and scored 307 runs at an impressive strike rate of 138.91 in the lower order.
