Mohsin Naqvi denies apology to BCCI despite Indian media reports claiming he said sorry. The ACC Chairman called these stories “fabricated nonsense” during his press conference yesterday. Naqvi slammed India for bringing politics into cricket and ruining the sport’s spirit.

The trophy drama started after India won the Asia Cup final against Pakistan. Suryakumar Yadav refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi at the presentation ceremony. This awkward moment sparked a massive controversy between the cricket boards immediately afterwards.
Naqvi’s Strong Statement Against BCCI
Mohsin Naqvi denies apology claims and said he won’t ever apologise to India. He accused the BCCI of playing dirty politics through cricket instead of focusing on. Naqvi believes India has crossed the line by mixing sports with political issues.
“Indian media thrives on lies, not facts. Let me make it absolutely clear: I have done nothing wrong, and I have never apologised to the BCCI nor will I ever do so. This fabricated nonsense is nothing but cheap propaganda, aimed only at misleading their own people.
“Unfortunately, India continues to drag politics into cricket, damaging the very spirit of the game. As ACC President, I was ready to hand over the trophy that very day, and I am still ready now. If they truly want it, they are welcome to come to the ACC office and collect it from me,” Naqvi wrote on X.
The PCB chief insists he never surrendered the trophy to anyone secretly, either. He challenged the BCCI to come collect it from ACC headquarters in Dubai. The trophy sits at the office right now, waiting for India to claim it.

BCCI Plans Impeachment Against Naqvi
The Indian board is reportedly planning impeachment proceedings against Naqvi as ACC President. They’re questioning his impartiality and claiming he breached several sporting protocols during the tournament. Two officials from Associate countries will help address this messy situation going forward.
The BCCI feels Naqvi acted unprofessionally throughout the Asia Cup 2025 competition here. Critics from various cricket circles have slammed his handling of the trophy presentation. Mohsin Naqvi denies apology, but the damage to cricket’s image has already been done badly.

India’s Unilateral Actions Criticised
Naqvi pointed out how India skipped traditional handshake rituals during the tournament. The team also refused to participate in the trophy presentation ceremony completely. These actions showed disrespect to the tournament organisers and other participating nations.
The controversy keeps growing as both boards refuse to back down now. Cricket fans worldwide want this drama to end so everyone can focus on playing.
