India won the Asia Cup, but the trophy remains controversial. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has refused to hand over the trophy to India.
Now, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is preparing to raise the issue at the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting.

Trophy Controversy: What’s the whole matter?
Following India’s spectacular victory in the Asia Cup, an awkward situation arose during the trophy presentation ceremony. Mohsin Naqvi, who is also Pakistan’s Interior Minister, refused to hand over the trophy to India.
Naqvi says that a BCCI representative should come to collect the trophy from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) headquarters in Dubai. But the BCCI has rejected this condition.
An ACC source told PTI, “The BCCI secretary, BCCI’s ACC representative Rajeev Shukla, and representatives of other member boards, including Sri Lanka Cricket and Afghanistan, wrote to the ACC president last week about handing the trophy to India.”
But Naqvi replied, “Someone from BCCI should come to Dubai and take the trophy from him.”
BCCI’s tough stance, will discuss the matter at the ICC
The BCCI has made it clear that they will not go to receive the trophy from Naqvi. The matter will now be raised at the next ICC meeting, where former BCCI secretary and current ICC chairman Jay Shah will be present.
The controversy began when the Indian team did not shake hands with Pakistani players during the Asia Cup.
This decision was taken to honor the martyrs of the Pahalgam terror attack. During the tournament, matches between the two teams were held every Sunday, which further fueled the controversy.
Meanwhile, the trophy is still kept at the ACC headquarters. At the awards ceremony, the Indian team refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi, after which Naqvi left with it.
The issue has also heated up on social media, with some calling Naqvi a “trophy thief.” The BCCI is now preparing to raise this issue with the ICC to ensure India receives its rightful trophy.
