Manchester Police arrested Haider Ali after someone complained about a rape case against him. The police say this happened on July 23, but they reported it later. This has created a huge mess for Pakistan cricket right now.
The Pakistan Cricket Board quickly suspended Ali after hearing about his arrest. They don’t want any player who might be in legal trouble representing Pakistan. The board said they will wait for the police to finish their investigation.
“The PCB fully respects the legal procedures and processes of the United Kingdom and acknowledges the importance of allowing the investigation to run its due course,” the PCB said.
What The Police Are Saying
Greater Manchester Police got a complaint on August 4 about a rape case. They say the incident happened on July 23 during the Pakistan team’s visit there. The police arrested Ali but then let him go on bail conditions.
“We have arrested a 24-year-old man. It’s alleged that the incident occurred on Wednesday, 23 July 2025, at a premises in Manchester. The man has since been bailed pending further enquiries,” the police stated.
Haider Ali arrested in England means he cannot play cricket for Pakistan now. The police are still asking questions and gathering evidence about what happened. Ali must report to the police regularly while they investigate this serious matter.

The young cricketer was in England with the Pakistan Shaheens team tour. This junior team was playing matches to give young players international experience abroad.

“Accordingly, the PCB has decided to place Haider Ali under provisional suspension, effective immediately, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.”
“Once the legal proceedings are concluded and all facts have been duly established, the PCB reserves the right to take appropriate action under its Code of Conduct, if necessary,” PCB stated.
PCB bosses say they will take more action depending on the investigation results. Haider Ali arrested in England, could end his career if charges are proven true.
