Indian cricket’s shining star and two-time World Cup winner Piyush Chawla has retired from all formats of cricket.

The 36-year-old leg-spinner bid farewell to the field after a brilliant career spanning over two decades.
Chawla informed his fans about this decision through an emotional post on Instagram on Friday.
Chawla wrote, “After spending more than two decades on the field, it is now time to say goodbye to this beautiful game. Even though I am leaving the crease, cricket will always live in my heart.”
He thanked his coach, family, and IPL franchise from the bottom of his heart. Especially remembering his late father, Chawla said that it was their support that brought him to such a big position.

World Cup Hero Piyush Chawla Cricket Career
Chawla’s career has been no less than a roller-coaster ride. At the age of 17, he surprised everyone by bowling Sachin Tendulkar with his googly in the 2005-06 Challenger Series.
After this, he has played 3 Tests, 25 ODIs, and 7 T20s for India, in which he took a total of 43 wickets. But his real talent was seen in domestic cricket and IPL.
How did Piyush become IPL superstar?
Chawla is one of the most successful spinners in the IPL. He took 192 wickets in 192 matches, which makes him one of the top wicket-taking bowlers in the league.
Winning the title in 2012 and 2014 with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was the highlight of his career.
Especially in the 2014 final, Chawla scored the winning runs for KKR to secure the trophy against Punjab Kings.
He also showed amazing performance for Punjab Kings, Chennai Super Kings, and Mumbai Indians.

Piyush’s achievements in domestic cricket
Chawla has taken more than 1000 wickets in domestic cricket. He has 446 wickets in first class and 319 wickets in T20.
While playing for Uttar Pradesh, he always troubled the batsmen with his spin.
At present, Chawla did not say much about his future plans, but said that he will start a new journey with the learnings and passion he got from cricket.
