Prithvi Shaw, whose name once rocked the cricket world, is now taking a big decision. It is reported that he wants to say goodbye to Mumbai cricket and play for a team from another state.
For this, he has asked for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). Hearing this news, there has been a stir among the fans.
What is the reason that Shaw is planning to leave Mumbai? Let’s know the whole matter..
What is the matter?
Prithvi Shaw wrote a letter to MCA, in which he clearly said that he now wants to play professional cricket from a team from another state. He believes that this step will give a new flight to his career.
An MCA source said, “Yes, Shaw has requested for NOC. We will soon have a meeting on this and take a decision.”
But it is not yet clear which state team Shaw will join. Some reports were pointing towards Maharashtra Cricket Association, but the officials there denied it.
Fitness and form issue
The last few years have not been easy for Shaw. MCA had excluded him from Ranji Trophy last season, the reason being his poor fitness.
There was also news that he had 35% fat in his body, after which MCA asked him to follow a strict fitness program for two weeks.
But Shaw’s form and fitness did not improve. As a result, he had to be out of Vijay Hazare Trophy as well. Not only this, he remained unsold in the IPL 2025 auction as well, which was a big setback for him.
Shaw’s pain, expressed on Instagram Story
Shaw shared his heart with his fans on social media.
He wrote, “Tell me, what else should I do? What if I am not good despite 3399 runs in 65 innings, an average of 55.7 and a strike rate of 126? But I will not give up, I will definitely come back!”
At present, Shaw last played List A cricket for Mumbai in 2022. After this, he played in the One-Day Cup for Northamptonshire in England, where his performance was mixed.
Now the question is, will Shaw be able to return to his old form with the new team? Or will this decision become the turning point of his career?
