How Long Will Shreyas Iyer Stay in Hospital?
Medical reports suggest Iyer might stay hospitalized for 5 to 7 days undergoing tests continuously. Doctors need to stop the internal bleeding completely before discharging him safely back home. His condition remains stable currently, but doctors aren’t taking any chances with his health now.
“Shreyas has been in the ICU for the past couple of days. After the reports came in, internal bleeding was detected, and he had to be admitted immediately. He will remain under observation for anywhere between two to seven days depending on recovery, as one needed to stop the spread of infection due to bleeding,” the source said.
Shreyas Iyer admitted in ICU means he’ll miss the ODI series against South Africa starting soon. The series begins on November 30, which gives him barely three weeks to recover fully. BCCI hasn’t released any official statement about his recovery timeline frustrating fans waiting for updates.

What Happens to India’s Squad Now?
BCCI might call up Tilak Varma as Iyer’s replacement if recovery takes longer than expected. India’s middle order loses a crucial player right before an important home series. Iyer’s resilience gives hope he’ll bounce back, but career risks remain with such injuries.
Team sources believe Iyer will recover because he’s always been mentally strong and physically fit before. But internal bleeding injuries need careful handling to avoid complications developing later in life.
