Team India’s Test and ODI captain, Shubman Gill, has been discharged from the hospital. Everyone was worried after suffering a neck injury in the first Test against South Africa.

Gill retired hurt after playing just three balls on the second day of the match and was then taken to a hospital in Kolkata on a stretcher.
Shubman Gill’s health improving, but the next Test is difficult
According to a report in RevSportz, “Breaking: Shubman Gill has been released from hospital. His pain has subsided, but he has been advised 4-5 days of rest. His participation in the Guwahati Test hangs in the balance.”
The same report also stated that CAB President Sourav Ganguly visited him at the hospital.
RevSportz wrote, “CAB president Sourav Ganguly was dropped in at Woodlands Hospital to meet Shubman Gill. The India captain was discharged later in the evening.”
Doctors have advised Gill to rest for now. The next Test is scheduled to be played in Guwahati from November 22, but Gill’s availability remains a major question mark.
This is a setback for India because since taking over as captain, Gill has emerged as the team’s most reliable batsman.
He did not bat in Team India’s fourth innings as the BCCI confirmed on the third day that he would be unable to play the rest of the match.
He had neck spasms and was seen wearing a neck brace. He was also seen by broadcasters performing neck exercises on Day 2 before the match.
Morne Morkel and Irfan Pathan also expressed their views
India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel said after the match that Gill “woke up with a stiff neck,” which was why he struggled to bat.
Meanwhile, former all-rounder Irfan Pathan also discussed India’s 30-run defeat in the first Test on his YouTube channel.
He said, “In my opinion, it’s better to play on tracks that turn on days four and five instead of those that go up and down so early.”
He clearly stated that if the pitch starts turning from day one, the opposition bowlers become equally dangerous, and India could suffer as a result.
Gill’s medical reports and the impact of his rest over the next few days will determine whether he will play in the second Test against South Africa.
