Exciting news from county cricket today! Surrey signed Sai Kishore for their next two Championship matches. The Tamil Nadu spinner finally gets his shot at English county cricket. What a breakthrough moment for this 28-year-old Indian spinner!

Sai Kishore turns the ball nicely for both Tamil Nadu and Gujarat Titans. He’s been picking up wickets left and right in domestic cricket. Surrey were desperately hunting for a reliable spinner in Division One.
The English county picked him after watching his brilliant domestic performances. County cricket will be a new challenge for this talented bowler.
Two Big Matches Coming Up
Sai Kishore will face Yorkshire first in his county debut match. This game happens in Scarborough where conditions suit spin bowling. His second match pits him against Durham in Chester-le-Street.
“I’m really excited to be joining Surrey for the next two County Championship matches. Surrey are one of the most prestigious clubs in the world and I have heard great things about the set-up from lots of different people in the game”, Sai Kishore said.
Alec Stewart runs Surrey’s cricket operations and backed this signing. Stewart heard great things about Sai Kishore from Indian cricket people. Surrey signed Sai Kishore because they believed in his bowling talent.
“I’m delighted to bring the highly rated Sai Kishore into our squad for the next two Kookaburra games. All the reports I have received from people I respect in the Indian game have spoken highly of him. His four-day record for Tamil Nadu is very good and he brings leadership experience to the group,” Stewart said.
Outstanding Record in Indian Cricket
Sai Kishore has taken 192 wickets in just 46 first-class matches. His bowling average sits at an impressive 23.51. He bowls tight with an economy rate of 2.76 per over.
Last Ranji Trophy season saw him dominate with 53 wickets total. He averaged only 18.52 runs for each wicket he took. These numbers explain why Surrey wanted him so badly.
The 2025 IPL season made him the second-best spinner overall. His TNPL team recently won the title with his help. Yet India’s selectors still haven’t picked him for national duty.
Chasing His India Dream Through England
Sai Kishore missed India’s selection despite his excellent bowling performances everywhere. He hopes county cricket success will catch the selectors’ attention. Playing in England tests spinners against different batting styles.
He toured England in 2022 as India’s reserve spinner. During practice games, he bowled really well against Cheteshwar Pujara. This experience taught him how English pitches behave differently.
Surrey signed Sai Kishore hoping he delivers match-winning performances for them. After county cricket ends, he plays in the Buchi Babu tournament. Then another Ranji Trophy season awaits his brilliant bowling skills.
