The Indian cricket world is once again in the headlines, and this time it’s because of our homegrown spinner Varun Chakravarthy! The 34-year-old star has achieved the No. 1 spot in the ICC Men’s T20I bowling rankings for the first time.

This is no small feat, friends! Varun has now become the third Indian bowler, after Jasprit Bumrah and Ravi Bishnoi, to achieve this feat.
Varun’s prowess was recently on display in the Asia Cup, where he recorded impressive figures of 1/4 against the UAE and 1/24 against Pakistan.
His five-wicket haul against England earlier this year won everyone’s hearts.
These impressive performances have helped him climb three places in the rankings, securing the top spot.
Other Big Changes in ICC Rankings
Varun’s rise isn’t the only one; several other bowlers have also made significant gains in the rankings. New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy is at No. 2, while West Indies’ Akeal Hosein is at No. 3, and Australia’s Adam Zampa is at No. 4.
Sri Lanka’s Nuwan Thushara jumped six places to sixth. Meanwhile, India’s Kuldeep Yadav secured 23rd place with a massive jump of 16 places.
Speaking of batting, India’s Abhishek Sharma secured the No. 1 spot in the T20I batting rankings after scoring 31 runs against Pakistan.
England’s Phil Salt and Jos Buttler are ranked second and third respectively. Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka reached sixth and Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz reached 19th place in the Asia Cup. India’s Shubman Gill is also shining at 39th.
Hardik Pandya remains at the top among all-rounders. Abhishek Sharma also jumped four places to 14th.
Varun Chakravarthy said about his impressive performance,
“I’m truly honored to be ranked No. 1 in the ICC T20I bowling rankings. It’s a result of consistent hard work and the support of my team.”
