The cricket world is in mourning. Former India spinner Dilip Doshi is no more with us. He died of a heart attack in London at the age of 77.

On hearing the name of Dilip Doshi, the eyes of old cricket fans light up. He made his debut in Test cricket after the retirement of Bishan Singh Bedi in 1979.
Took 114 wickets in 33 Test matches, including 6 five-wicket hauls. But his most memorable performance was in 1981 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Despite a broken toe, he took 5 wickets and led India to victory. What a spirit he had!

Sachin wrote, “I met Dilipbhai for the first time in the UK in 1990, and he bowled to me in the nets on that tour. He was really fond of me, and I reciprocated his feelings. A warm-hearted soul like Dilipbhai will be deeply missed. I will miss those cricketing conversations which we invariably had.

Doshi was famous not only in India but also in England’s county cricket. Playing for Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire, he made batsmen dance for a decade.
He also has 22 wickets in 15 ODIs. Saurashtra Cricket Association President Jaydev Shah and former BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah described him as family.
Dilip Doshi’s son Nayan was also a first-class cricketer. He is survived by his wife Kalindi and daughter Vishakha. The cricket world is shocked by his demise. Fans are paying tribute to him on social media.
