Former England cricketer Graham Thorpe has revealed a shocking fact about his life. His wife Amanda and daughter Kitty have revealed that Graham committed suicide after battling severe depression and anxiety for years.
The death of 55-year-old Graham Thorpe was announced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on August 5, but the cause of his death was not made clear at the time.
Amanda and Kitty tell the Times in an exclusive interview that

Amanda revealed that in May 2022, Graham made a serious suicide attempt, after which he had to stay in the intensive care unit for some time. Graham suffered from severe depression and anxiety over the years. This mental struggle of his eventually led to his death, “Amanda told.
Graham Thorpe played for England in his cricket career from 1993 to 2005 and is still regarded as England’s 10th highest scorer. He scored 16 centuries and also captained England three times during his career.
After his playing days, he continued his career in coaching and recently became the head coach of Afghanistan, but he soon had to be hospitalized due to health problems.
“We want to start a conversation about mental health issues at this difficult time,” Graham’s daughter Kitty said. It should not be considered a matter of hiding or shame.”
“We did everything we could to protect Graham and treat him, but now it’s time to share this truth and raise awareness of mental health issues.”
