The Former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull’s advice to Pakistan that Pakistan will have to repeat the magic of defeating India once again like in T20 WC 2021 in Dubai.
Actually, Pakistan’s condition is currently bad in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. After losing to New Zealand by 60 runs in Karachi, the team’s chances of reaching the semi-finals have become very less. Now they have the challenge of winning against India, that too in Dubai!
Simon Doull said in a video on Instagram,
“I remember the T20 World Cup of 2021. Then Pakistan defeated India in Dubai. This was one of their very few victories over India in an ICC tournament.”
Doull further said, “Find a way; you need the senior players around you, Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi; they should be around them and help them. They should go to Dubai as a unit and really, really play, probably the biggest game of their lives if they have to beat India, because India will be very, very tough, and they are going to be up for it. Are Pakistan going to do that?”
The biggest concern for Pakistan is that India is in tremendous form at the moment. According to Dooll, Pakistan will have to give its 100%. He said that senior players like Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi will have to take the team forward.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board has taken a big decision. They have made Mudassar Nazar a special coach. Nazar has good experience of UAE pitches. He has coached at ICC’s Global Cricket Academy in Pakistan, Kenya and Dubai.
A big change in the team is that Fakhar Zaman is out of the tournament due to injury. Now Imam-ul-Haq has got the responsibility of opening in his place.
If Simon Dooll is to be believed, Pakistan has a chance, but they have to play unitedly as a team. Every player has to give his best. If this does not happen then the dream of semi-finals will remain unfulfilled.
