Suryakumar Yadav made a pointed comment after India’s series win against Australia. The captain seemed to indirectly reference the Asia Cup trophy controversy. His words caught everyone’s attention at the press conference today.

Trophy Comment Raises Eyebrows
India beat Australia 2-1 in the T20 series recently. Suryakumar Yadav spoke at the press conference after this victory. He said it feels great to finally touch a trophy.
This comment appeared to dig at the Asia Cup situation. India refused to accept that trophy from PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi. The team believed Naqvi holds anti-India views and stayed away.
“It feels great to finally get to touch the trophy. Felt it in my hands, when I was handed over the trophy for the series victory. A few days back another trophy arrived in India our women’s team has won the World Cup. That trophy has also arrived back home. It feels great and getting to touching this trophy as well feels good,” Yadav said.
Mohsin Naqvi took the Asia Cup trophy with him afterwards. India won the tournament but never received their prize properly. This created a huge controversy between the cricket boards.

Diplomatic Talks Begin
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia met Naqvi in Dubai recently though. They discussed the trophy dispute during ICC meetings there quietly. Both officials talked in a friendly manner about solutions.
Saikia confirmed this meeting had happened during the ICC gathering earlier. He said both sides want to resolve this matter quickly. The conversation went well according to him at least.
“We had an informal meeting with PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi. Since it wasn’t part of the official agenda, ICC arranged a discussion. We are thankful to the ICC for making the effort in resolving the issue.
“Both parties had a cordial discussion and have agreed to resolve the matter at the earliest. The ice has been broken. We had a series of meetings in the last few days, and a lot of important matters were discussed at length,” Saikia said.
No official committee will form to handle this dispute apparently. Saikia and Naqvi will propose ideas to each other directly. This approach keeps things simple between the two boards involved.

Hope for Quick Resolution
Saikia stayed optimistic about finding a solution very soon. He believes both parties can reach an agreement together easily. Various options will be explored in the coming days.
Suryakumar Yadav’s comment shows the issue still bothers Indian players. They want proper recognition for their Asia Cup victory badly. The trophy belongs to the winners according to cricket tradition.
Fans hope this controversy ends peacefully without more drama happening. Cricket should stay above political problems between neighbouring countries always. Both boards need to find a middle ground for the sport.
