The fourth T20 match between India and Australia was underway in Gold Coast. The crowd in the stadium was buzzing, but former Australian captain Steve Waugh felt something was missing.

He said that if Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma had been there, the fun would have been doubled.
Waugh clearly stated in the press conference,
“Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are two all-time great players. Virat Kohli is probably the greatest one-day player of all time. You want to see them play everywhere. People on the Gold Coast would love to see them play, but they can’t play every match.”
Hearing this brought back memories for fans. Virat and Rohit were on the first leg of the Australia tour, which included a three-match ODI series.
This is the last format in which both currently play international cricket. Virat was twice dismissed for a duck in the first two matches of the series, but in the third match, both of them made a splash.
Virat broke Kumar Sangakkara’s record for runs in that very innings. Gold Coast’s Carrara Oval is usually famous for women’s matches. This was only their third men’s international match here, and that too a T20.
Now, after retirement, both are focusing on the limited-overs format. The Australia tour showed that age is just a number, performance is amazing.
Kohli and Rohit dominate the ODI series
In the third ODI, India had to chase a target of 237 runs. Rohit scored an unbeaten 121 and Virat scored an unbeaten 74. Their 168-run partnership led India to an easy nine-wicket win.
This partnership, forged in 170 balls, made the series memorable. Rohit said this was his last international match in Australia.
Both returned to the national team for the first time after defeating New Zealand in the Champions Trophy final.
They retired from Test cricket after the victory in March. Both also retired from T20 Internationals after winning the T20 World Cup.
