“I Am Surprised” – Former England Star Slams CSK for Benching Devon Conway After RCB Defeat

Former England cricketer Nick Knight has raised questions on CSK. He has expressed displeasure over CSK’s batting order after the defeat to RCB.

Former England Star Slams CSK for Benching Devon Conway After RCB Defeat

Why is Devon Conway not being played?

Nick Knight is surprised why CSK did not give Devon Conway a place in the team. He believes that the opening pair of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Conway has already been successful and it was a mistake to break it.

“I am surprised why Devon Conway is not playing. Gaikwad and Conway should open. Both of them are tried and tested players and Conway’s record is excellent,” Knight said.

Why change the winning formula of 2023?

CSK became champions in 2023 and then the Gaikwad-Conway pair gave a great start. This year, the team changed its opening combination. In the first two matches, Rahul Tripathi and Rachin Ravindra opened the innings, while Rituraj was sent at number 3.

Knight suggests that the team should have kept Ravindra at number 3, which would have given the successful Gaikwad-Conway pair a chance to move forward.

Nick Knight also questioned Shivam Dubey’s batting position. Dubey has been performing well since IPL 2023, but CSK kept him at number 6 and sent Sam Curran up.

Knight also discussed Dhoni’s batting order. He believes that if the team plays Devon Conway, then Dhoni can be sent at number 7.

Nick Knight believes that CSK needs to change their strategy immediately. He said that players like Shivam Dubey should be given more responsibility so that they can dominate the middle overs.

Now it remains to be seen whether CSK makes any changes in their strategy in the coming matches.
