Former cricketer Wasim Akram expressed his embarrassment after Pakistan’s 2-0 defeat to Bangladesh. The team is facing much criticism and has recently dropped to its lowest position in the ICC Test rankings since 1965, sitting at 8th.

“For a former player and captain, and a lover of the game, I was left embarrassed at the way they have lost from good positions. I simply don’t get it,” Akram told AFP.

In the second Test Bangladesh found themselves in a precarious position at 26/6 in their first innings. However, Liton Das and Mehidy Hassan formed a crucial partnership that not only brought Bangladesh back into contention but ultimately led them to victory.

In the first Test, veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim also played a pivotal role, rescuing the team from a difficult situation with a remarkable double century.

After Pakistan’s loss to Bangladesh, PCB chief is considering the strength of domestic cricket, stating that they can’t dump someone unless they have a better one to replace.

Bangladesh’s bowlers proved to be more effective on the flat Rawalpindi surfaces in both matches, with their fast bowlers claiming 21 wickets in the series and spinners taking 15.

“It’s a huge setback and our cricket is at a crossroads,” Akram noted. “We are losing consistently on home turf, and that says a lot about the quality of our cricket.”

“I mean, extremely disappointed, especially when you start the home season, something we’ve all been very excited about. We waited 10 months for this opportunity. The story has been a bit of the same, like, Australia. We haven’t learned our lessons,” Shan Masood remarked following the series.

Wasim thinks now it’s time for the team to realize that where they thought they were playing good cricket in Australia. That’s something the team needs to work on.
