Jasprit Bumrah once again rocked the first Test between India and England at Headingley.
With his stormy bowling, Bumrah wrapped up England’s innings at 465 runs and took 5 wickets to give India a small but valuable lead of 6 runs.

Bumrah has now shared the record of taking the most 5-wicket hauls for India on foreign soil with Kapil Dev. This is his 8th five-wicket haul abroad!
What is the 5-wicket haul, which Bumrah shared with Kapil Dev?
Actually, Jasprit Bumrah took 5 wickets in the Headingley Test against England. This is the 8th time in his career on foreign grounds (ie outside India) when he took 5 or more wickets in an innings. This is called a “five-wicket haul” in cricket.
The scene of the match was something like this. England’s Harry Brook was just one run away from a century on 99 runs. He was batting aggressively, but Bumrah’s cleverness did not work for him.
Brook was caught by Shardul Thakur and his dream of a century was shattered. Brook also got a lifeline three times, but ultimately Bumrah’s strategy sent him to the pavilion.
After this, Bumrah also dismissed Chris Woakes and Josh Tongue to complete his five-wicket count.
Bumrah’s fiery bowling
Bumrah took 5 wickets for just 83 runs. His bowling had the speed, swing and cleverness that forced England’s batsmen to kneel.
Chris Woakes and Brydon Carse certainly troubled India a bit by sharing a 55-run partnership, but Bumrah made the final attack and dashed England’s hopes. Mohammad Siraj also dismissed Carrs with a yorker, but Bumrah was the hero of the day.
India’s first innings ended at 471 runs, in which Shubman Gill (147) and Rishabh Pant (134) batted explosively. For England, Ollie Pope scored 106 and Brook scored 99, but everyone was swept away in Bumrah’s storm.
Now the match is at an exciting turn, as India has got a lead of only 6 runs. Will India be able to score big in the second innings? Or will England’s bouncer army make a comeback?
