Sachin Tendulkar saw India batting yesterday and got really happy. Sourav Ganguly also loved what he watched on TV. The IND vs ENG 2025 first day brought back old memories for them.

India Dominates England Badly on Day 1

England won the toss but made a big mistake. They let India bat first on a flat pitch. Their bowlers got hit everywhere by Indian batsmen.

This match starts the new Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between both countries. Headingley ground saw some amazing cricket from India’s young players. England’s bowlers had a terrible day at work.

Shubman Gill stayed not out on 127 runs. He hit many beautiful shots all day long. Yashasvi Jaiswal made 101 runs before getting out. Both boys played like they owned the ground.

Rishabh Pant scored 65 runs without getting out too. They helped India reach 359/3. The scoreboard kept moving fast throughout the entire day.

    Sachin Talks About Old Times

Sachin Tendulkar wrote something nice on Twitter about Indian batsmen. He said well done to KL Rahul, Jaiswal, Gill and Pant. The great batsman felt proud watching these young players.

“A solid foundation laid by @klrahul and @ybj_19 enabled India to have a good day. Congratulations to Yashasvi and @ShubmanGill for their brilliant centuries. @RishabhPant17’s contribution was equally important for the team,” Tendulkar wrote on X.

Then Sachin remembered something from 2002 on this ground. He scored 193 runs in that famous match here. Ganguly got 128 runs and Dravid made 148 runs. All three hit centuries in the same innings back then.

“India’s batting today reminded me of the Headingley Test in 2002 when Rahul, @SGanguly99, and I scored hundreds in the first innings, and we went on to win the Test. Today, Yashasvi and Shubman have done their part. Who will be the third centurion this time?”

Sachin asked everyone a fun question on social media. He wanted to know who would get the third century. Two players already reached hundreds in this current match.

    Ganguly Says More Hundreds Coming

Sourav Ganguly saw Sachin’s message and replied back quickly. Dada thinks maybe four players can score hundreds here. The pitch looks too easy for batting right now.

“Hi, Champ… this time it could be 4.. on this good surface… Pant and maybe Karun.. the surface on day 1 in 2002.. was a bit different than this..” he replied, sparking fan reactions across social media.

Ganguly mentioned Pant’s name as someone who can reach a hundred. He also talked about Karun Nair getting his chance. Both players still have time to score big tomorrow.

Pant looked very comfortable while batting against England’s bowlers. He played some lovely drives and pulls today. Karun Nair is waiting for his turn to bat.

    Same Story Happening Again

Back in 2002, India won a famous match here. Three legends scored centuries and embarrassed England completely. That victory became very special for Indian cricket.

Now these young players want to do the same. Captain Gill has started his leadership journey perfectly. His team dominated England on the opening day.

The IND vs ENG 2025 series looks exciting already after one day. England must bowl better on day 2 or India will score 500. This pitch still helps batsmen a lot.
