Everyone wants to know if Jasprit Bumrah will play the second Test. Captain Shubman Gill finally gave us some answers about India’s star bowler. Bumrah can play if the team thinks he’s ready. But the coaches will check the pitch first.

Gill spoke to reporters before the Edgbaston Test match. He said Bumrah is fit and available for selection. But there’s a catch here. The team won’t rush Bumrah into every game. They want to keep him fresh for important matches. His health comes first before anything else.
“Bumrah is surely available. We have to look into this workload management. We have to look into the final combination today at the nets,” Gill said.
Team Protects Their Star Bowler
Bumrah bowled 43 overs in the first Test match. He took five wickets in the first innings brilliantly. But he couldn’t get any wickets in the second innings. The English batsmen played him more carefully then.

Gill knows how important Bumrah is for the team. He’s the world’s number-one Test bowler right now. Every team fears facing his deadly bowling attack. India needs him fit for big moments.
“We knew prior to the series that we would get Jasprit for three games, but we had that sorted beforehand. Yes, obviously we would miss him, but we have our plans sorted.” Gill further said.
The captain explained their smart plan for Bumrah. He will only play three matches in this series. This gives his body proper rest between games. Past injuries taught them to be more careful.
Learning from Past Mistakes
Bumrah has hurt his back before during cricket matches. These injuries kept him out for many weeks. He missed the Champions Trophy because of back problems. Early IPL matches also went without him.
Head coach Gautam Gambhir supports this careful approach completely. He thinks long-term success matters more than short-term wins. The team has made firm plans about Bumrah’s schedule.

They will decide about each match separately though. Pitch conditions will influence their final choice every time. Some pitches suit fast bowlers more than others.
Final Decision Coming Soon
The team management will meet before the match starts. They will look at the Edgbaston pitch very carefully. Weather conditions will also affect their thinking process.
