In the ongoing second Test match between India and England at the Edgbaston Test, the heated exchange between Ravindra Jadeja and Ben Stokes on the field caught everyone’s attention.

On Thursday, July 3, a mistake by Jadeja on the second day of the game caused an uproar, and now Jadeja has responded to Stokes’ serious allegations with an official statement.
Uproar on the pitch, Stokes’ anger
The Indian team batted brilliantly in the match. Jadeja played a blistering innings of 89 runs and shared a 203-run partnership with captain Shubman Gill (269 runs).
But during the game, Jadeja accidentally went into the danger area of the pitch while taking a run. The umpire warned him, but England captain Ben Stokes and bowler Chris Woakes got furious.
Stokes accused Jadeja of deliberately spoiling the pitch and said, “Look what you did, friend!”
Jadeja immediately replied, “I was running from here. I will not bowl there. Why would I do that? My focus is on batting!”
Ravindra Jadeja’s strong reply
In the press conference after the match, Jadeja made it clear that he had no wrong intention.
He said, “They think I am making things difficult for myself. Hey, they were making the situation worse with their fast bowlers. What did I need? I was just taking runs.”
Jadeja laughingly said that he accidentally went into the danger area two-four times, but his focus was only on batting.
He also promised that if he gets a chance, he will bowl in a good area.
IND vs ENG 2nd Test: India dominates, England on the backfoot
In the match, India scored a huge score of 587 runs in the first innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal (87) and Washington Sundar (42) also made excellent contributions. In reply, England ended the second day at 77/3 with Joe Root (18) and Harry Brooke (30) at the crease. India are currently ahead by 510 runs.
Dinesh Karthik said on Sky Sports, “It was a perfect day for India. 587, three quick wickets, and now pressure on England’s top batsmen. But there’s work to be done.”
For now, the battle between Jadeja and Stokes is a topic of discussion off the field as well.
