Shubman Gill’s stellar 269 runs made cricket history at Edgbaston this week. The young captain scored his first double-century in Test cricket. Srikkanth shared his thoughts on social media about Gill’s batting. He called it a “special moment” for Indian cricket fans. The former player even hoped Gill would score 300 runs next time.
The IND vs ENG 2nd Test saw India dominate completely with their batting. Gill’s innings helped India reach 587 runs in their first innings. This put England under huge pressure right from the start.
Srikkanth Changes His Mind About Gill
Kris Srikkanth had said many negative things about Gill this year. He questioned Gill’s ability to score runs in tough conditions. But Shubman Gill’s stellar 269 runs changed everything for the former cricketer.
“What else is there to say When a player of just 25 years creates history in the land where cricket was born! What a knock, i was hoping for a triple but looking at this young legend play its not too far in the future!” Kris Srikkanth wrote.
Srikkanth now thinks Gill can become one of India’s greatest batsmen. He believes this double century will boost Gill’s confidence hugely. The former captain wants to see more such performances from Gill.
