Shubman Gill has impressed everyone with his captaincy skills in England. The young leader scored 114 runs not out on day 1. Many cricket experts think he’s doing better than previous captains. Former players are now comparing him to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Gill leads a completely new team with many young players. This makes his job much harder than what Kohli faced before. Rohit Sharma also had experienced players to help him out. But Gill must guide fresh faces who are still learning cricket.
Former Players Praise Gill’s Leadership
Hemang Badani was very happy watching Gill bat against England bowlers. The former cricketer said Gill handles pressure really well for someone so young. Badani thinks Gill’s century shows he can lead India in tough situations.
“Before this season, there were a lot of discussions that he doesn’t score runs in SENA countries. He let the bat do the talking. He scored a century in the first match and a century in this match as well. As it’s said, captaincy suits some people. Captaincy is suiting him. I would also like to say that he is the captain of a young team. There is a lot of burden on him. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma had a set team. This is an absolutely new team, and he knows he has to do something as a batter. He is handling the pressure very well,” Badani said.
Saba Karim also praised Gill’s batting style against England’s fast bowlers. The former wicket-keeper liked how Gill stayed calm throughout his innings. Karim said Gill changed his approach when England bowlers tried different tactics.
Gill Proves Critics Wrong
Many people doubted Gill’s ability to score runs in difficult countries. These places include South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia. But Gill has now scored big runs in two matches here. He made 147 runs in the first Test against England recently.
Yesterday, India lost some early wickets and looked in trouble. But Gill batted with Ravindra Jadeja to save the team. Their partnership helped India reach a good score by day’s end.
Young Captain Still Has Work to Do
India lost the first Test match of this series badly. The team needs to win this match to stay alive. Gill knows his work is not finished yet with three days left.

The captain must score more runs and help his team win. England will try harder tomorrow to get Gill out quickly. If India wins this match, everyone will praise Gill’s leadership even more.
