Washington Sundar did wonders in the fourth Test against England, in this match played at Old Trafford in Manchester, Sundar scored his first international century by scoring an unbeaten 101 runs.
His unbeaten partnership of 203 runs with Ravindra Jadeja saved India from defeat and got the match drawn.
But even after this brilliant performance, his father M Sundar is less happy and more angry.

Why is Washington Sundar’s father angry?
Washington’s father expressed his anger on the selectors. He says that his son performs brilliantly again and again, yet he does not get opportunities.
M Sundar said in a conversation with the Times of India, “Washington scored 85* against England in Chennai and 96* in Ahmedabad in 2021. Even if these were centuries, he would have been dropped. What kind of joke is this? Others get opportunities again and again, why not my son?”
He also mentioned the 2017/18 Nidahas Trophy, where Washington was named Player of the Series. Yet, RCB kept him out for 11 matches in the IPL.
His father’s anger did not stop here. He said,
“In IPL 2022, Washington scored 40 runs in 14 balls for Sunrisers Hyderabad, but in the next match he was sent to number six. Is this right?”
Washington’s father wants his son to get a chance to bat at number five consistently and be allowed to play at least 5-10 matches without being dropped.
He says, “Washington has shown his ability time and again, yet the selectors drop him after one or two bad performances. This is injustice!”
What is Washington’s strength?
Washington Sundar is an all-rounder who can do wonders with both bat and ball. His unbeaten 101 at Old Trafford not only helped India secure a draw but also showed that he can perform well under pressure on the big stage.
His innings included 9 fours and 1 six, and that too in just 206 balls. His father believes that if he gets consistent opportunities, he can create even bigger records.
