A sad cricket story came out today from India. Abhimanyu Easwaran’s father opens up about his son’s long wait for playing Test cricket. The young batsman has been waiting for 961 days to play.

Ranganathan Easwaran feels very upset about the team selection committee’s strange decisions. His son plays really well in domestic cricket tournaments regularly. However, selectors keep ignoring Abhimanyu despite his excellent batting performance consistently.

The IND vs ENG 5th Test team announcement disappointed the Easwaran family again. Karun Nair got selected instead of Abhimanyu for this important match. This choice surprised many cricket experts who follow domestic cricket closely.

Ranganathan believes selectors prefer IPL players over domestic cricket performers unfairly. He thinks Ranji Trophy runs should matter more than IPL statistics. His son scored 864 runs recently, but still didn’t get chances.

    Family’s Emotional Struggle

Abhimanyu Easwaran’s father opens up about supporting his disappointed son during tough times. The young player feels sad about waiting so long for opportunities. His father encourages him to keep working hard despite these setbacks.

“I’m not keeping a count of the number of days that Abhimanyu has been waiting for his Test debut. I am counting the years; it has been three years now. What is the job of a player? It is to score runs. He has done that,” Abhimanyu’s father said.

“People said he didn’t perform in two India A matches during the last tour of Australia and didn’t get into the team, which is fair enough. But Karun Nair wasn’t in the team during the period when Abhimanyu performed before the BGT,” he added.

“Then how do they compare? I don’t understand. They gave a chance to Karun Nair. Fair enough, he scored 800-plus runs. The selectors have put faith in him,” he added.

Former coach Arun Lal also feels confused about selectors ignoring Easwaran completely. He called the decision very strange, given Abhimanyu’s consistent batting form. Many cricket coaches agree that this player deserves fair chances.

Coach Vijayakumar Madyalkar praised Easwaran’s preparation for the IND vs ENG 5th Test series. He said the batsman worked brilliantly and wanted to show his skills. However, selectors made different choices that hurt the player’s confidence.

    Cricket Selection Problems

Abhimanyu Easwaran’s father opens up about the unfair treatment of domestic cricket players. He questions why IPL performance influences Test team selection so much. Many cricket experts agree that domestic runs should count more.

“My son looks a little depressed, but that is bound to happen. Some players jump the gun based on IPL performances should not be counted while selecting the team for the longest format. Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy, and Irani Trophy should be the basis for Test selection,” he said.

The Indian team made several changes for this crucial Test match. They trail England 1-2 in the series and need fresh players. However, ignoring consistent performers like Easwaran seems wrong to many people.

Cricket analysts debate whether selectors make fair choices about team composition.
