India vs England Tests are always full of intensity — and during the 5th Test, fans witnessed an unexpected fiery moment between Prasidh Krishna and Joe Root. Cameras caught the two in a brief but heated exchange, and now, Krishna has finally spoken about what really happened. Spoiler alert: It’s not what you think!

“I didn’t expect him to fire back,” said Prasidh Krishna with a smile, as he opened up about the viral moment. “That’s just how I am on the field — aggressive, pumped-up. But off the field, we’re still Good friends.”
While his aggressive spell troubled England’s middle order, it was a rare heated exchange with the usually calm Joe Root that had fans buzzing.
What Exactly Happened?
During one of his spells in the match, Prasidh gave Joe Root a bit of a send-off — a typical bit of sledging meant to rattle the batter. But to everyone’s surprise, the usually calm and composed Root turned around and replied!
Even Krishna was taken aback.
“Honestly, I enjoy a little bit of banter. That’s my style. But Rooty usually stays quiet, so I didn’t expect him to respond that way,” Krishna revealed.
The clip instantly went viral, with fans loving the rare moment of fire from Root — and Krishna’s confident energy.
Not a Fight — We Are Good Friends
While some thought the two were on bad terms, Prasidh was quick to clear the air.
“People assume too much from 10 seconds of heat,” he said. “We were both in the zone. After the match, we shook hands, laughed about it — we’re still good friends.”
In fact, Krishna shared that he and Root often chat during series and share a great rapport beyond the field.
Known for his pace and aggression, Krishna says he plays with heart — and won’t be toning that down anytime soon.
“I like being expressive. That’s how I bowl. As long as it’s within limits, I think it adds to the game.”
Fans seemed to agree. Social media praised both players for showing true Test match spirit — competitive on the field, respectful off it.
One fan wrote: “This is what makes cricket exciting — the fire and the friendships!”
The fiery exchange seemed to ignite something in Prasidh Krishna, who unleashed a spirited spell that flipped the game on its head. Teaming up with Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh led a stunning fightback just when England looked in complete control, cruising at 129/1 after a brisk 92-run opening stand.
The breakthrough came when Zak Crawley fell, and from there, it was chaos for the hosts. England suffered a dramatic collapse, tumbling from 129/1 to 215/7 in a matter of overs. Prasidh was relentless, finishing with impressive figures of 4 for 62, while Siraj was equally effective with 4 for 83.
Despite the early advantage, England were bowled out for 247, managing only a narrow 23-run lead — a far cry from where they once stood.
