The fierce clash between England’s legendary batsman Joe Root and India’s fast bowler Prasidh Krishna in the Oval Test caught the attention of cricket fans.
The heat on the field, Root’s anger and then his frank conversation made this match more exciting.

Why did Root and Prasidh clash on the field?
On the fourth day of the fifth Test at the Oval, England needed just 73 runs to win, and they had six wickets left. But then Prasidh Krishna dismissed Joe Root, and this is where the real drama began.
Root, who was batting brilliantly at the time, was so angry after being dismissed that he slammed his bat while leaving the field.
Fans thought that perhaps Root’s anger was related to the heated argument with Prasidh in the first innings, but Root later cleared everything.
Why did Root get angry?
Root was angry at the ball which he thought was a four, but it went straight into the wicketkeeper’s gloves.
Root openly said in the press conference,
“Prasidh is a proven performer; he’s a fantastic player. You don’t play for India as a quick bowler without talent.
Obviously, he’s going to do well in the game, but it wasn’t a case of him and I; it was more frustration from my part that we didn’t get the win.
What happened in the first innings, or anything like that, had no bearing.”
That is, Root’s anger was not at Prasiddh, but from the frustration of not being able to ensure his team’s victory.
Root also told that the ball on which he got out was a four according to him.
He said, “I mean, in that position, we’d definitely back ourselves after the break. It was getting a bit better; they bowled some really good areas in that period and moved the ball around, and I was more frustrated that I missed the ball I thought should have gone for four.
At present, England has 4 wickets left, and they need only 35 more runs to win the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
Will England be able to do this, or will India win? Only the last day will tell.
