We’re just days away from knowing the India squad for South Africa T20 2025. December brings five T20 games after the ODI series finishes up soon. Everyone’s glued to their phones waiting for that official squad announcement to drop.

Suryakumar Yadav Continues as T20 Captain
Suryakumar Yadav keeps his captain’s role for the team facing South Africa. He’s been absolutely nailing this leadership thing since he took over captaincy duties. He got the team playing fearless cricket, and selectors love what they’re seeing.
Shubman Gill’s neck injury from that brutal Test series might keep him out. His injury came at the worst possible time honestly for the India squad. Gill’s batting will be missed badly, but you can’t rush back from neck problems.
Someone needs to be the vice-captain now with Gill watching from home. Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel are both in the mix for that role. We’ll find out who gets the nod when the team drops soon.
Big Names Making Comebacks
Jasprit Bumrah is back in the side after giving the ODIs a miss. He’s laser-focused on 20-over cricket with the World Cup coming next year. Having Bumrah in the side for SA matches makes the team way more dangerous.
Hardik Pandya shook off his injury and he’s good to go again. Any T20 squad India puts together needs Hardik’s batting and bowling both. Word is he’s passed all fitness tests and will definitely play in 2025.
That Test whitewash at home still stings pretty bad for everyone involved. But 20-over cricket moves fast, and the team can quickly turn things around. South Africa is tough, but India has dominated this format for years now.
India’s Possible T20I Squad:
Suryakumar Yadav (c), Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jitesh Sharma, Sanju Samson, Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy
